Catching Up

Here's a pic of the boys - Dylan far right (17 - a junior now!), Colin in the middle (yikes - 15!), their friend buddy at the end. (We were at a fundraiser for an old steam engine here in Albuquerque.) They are doing great. In fact, Dylan just sang at his first concert this week....once I figure out how to upload the video I'll share it.

Spent some time on Ravelry yesterday. At least some things never change!

What's the hot pattern these days? Hot yarn? I'm going to pop down to Michael's today to see what's new on the cheaper end of things.

Dare I go to Elann?

I'm actually making dishcloths first because I had a request from my Bio-Mom. I gave her one awhile ago & she actually asked for more! Once I finish half a dozen for her for Xmas, I'll be on to other things. I have a huge box of bulky yarn I ordered LAST Xmas..presumably I was thinking fast hats/scarves. I did find two skeins of Cashmerino Chunky that will be perfect for a scarf for a friend of mine. But some of that yarn I just look at and think, "hmmmmm...what was I thinking???" LOL

By the way...I think the Cotton Ease in my stash multiplied while I was away...I guess it needed something to do while I was ignoring it. ;)

Surfacing

• I'm done with ALL of my schooling for the time being.

• That means two teaching licenses and my endorsement for gifted education.

• My divorce was finalized last July...still have ex problems, but who doesn't?

• Bought my first house all on my own...paid the ex his portion so the lovely tri-level is all mine.

• I went out & bought crochet & knitting magazines for the first time in a year.

• I've almost finished my first dishcloth in over a year.

• Can a sweater be far behind? (Nope - found 3 in various stages of completion.)

• For all those who emailed....thanks for remembering me. :)

• I apologize to everyone for my incredibly looooong absence.

• I won't be starting on my master's until next fall, so.....

• I'm baaaaaack!

What's new with you?

Yay! You're Still Out There!

I was glad to see everyone's comments yesterday...I miss you guys!

I keep hoping I'll get my crafting mojo back, but life has just been non-stop, in my face, 24/7. Even when I'm vegging in front of the TV, I never seem to pick up anything to work on.

Other stuff (good stuff) is going on in the background too...the kind of stuff you can't really blog about...so that takes my attention also.

About the tattoo: It's a tribal phoenix. I found the black phoenix on line and then had my tattoo artist draw in the sun. I think she did an amazing job making it look like it was part of the original design. I chose blue/purple rather than red/orange because 1. I like those colors better and 2. The blue/purple represents the phoenix's tears as well as burning in the sun/fire.

The tattoo took 3 hours to do. The first 2 weren't too bad, but when she went back to fill in the outlines, that last hour HURT. She said that I picked a heck of a design for my first tattoo! LOL

But it was all worth it. I love it - even though the skin is starting to shed & I'm itching like crazy. It's big, true, but I wanted to make a statement and have something I'd love looking at the rest of my life.

I'm already planning #'s 2 & 3!
