Arizona Poncho

Arizona Poncho

My own design - here's the pattern!

ARIZONA PONCHO

Materials:
6 skeins Bernat Denimstyle (or any worsted weight yarn)
J crochet hook
Yarn needle

Gauge is not important - this could be made with chunky weight & a much larger needle if desired. The neckline would just be a bit larger.

Row 1: Ch 80, join to form ring - being careful not to twist chain.

Row 2: Ch 3, dc in each ch around, join in top of beg. Ch 3. 80 dcs.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in same st, *Ch 3, skip 1 dc, sc in next dc,* repeat from * to * around. Join with sl st in 1st sc.

Row 4 & 5: Sl st in 1st chain loop, (ch 3, sc in next loop) around, join with sl st in 1st sc.

Row 6: Sl st in 1st ch loop, ch 3 (counts as 1st dc), (2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in same loop (beg shell made),*(ch 3, sc in next loop) 9 times, ch 3 (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in next loop (shell made)*, repeat from * to * twice; (ch 3, sc in next loop) 9 times, ch 3, join with sl st at top of beg ch 3.

Row 7: (PATTERN ROW 1) Sl st to first ch 3 space, ch 6, dc in same space, *(ch 3, sc in next loop) across to next shell, ch 3, (dc, ch 3, dc) in shell,* repeat from * to * around, join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch 6.

Row 8: (PATTERN ROW 2) Sl st in 1st ch3 loop, beg shell in loop, *(ch , sc in next loop) across to next corner loop, shell in corner loop*, repeat from * to * around, ending with sl st. in top of beg ch 3.

Repeat pattern rows 1 & 2 until poncho is length desired, ending with pattern row 1.

Border: Shell in corner space, ch 3, *3 dc in each space to next corner, ch 3, shell, ch 3* repeat from * to * around. Join, fasten off, weave in ends.

I’m 6’ tall and my poncho ended up 22ā€ from neckline to straight edge, 36ā€ from neckline to points. However, the mesh stretches so these measurements are estimates
