Stats:
Pattern - Licorice Whip by Jenifer Paulousky. It's free too - free is good. :)
Yarn - 9 skeins Araucania Nature Cotton in Purple.
Needles - Size 10 Options and size 10 Denises
Mods - None, really. The stitch count wasn't correct at the outset for the size I was knitting (the medium) but that really wasn't a big deal. I just carried on with what I had & it worked out well.
My opinion - I like it. Even though it's cotton, it's a very heavy sweater - especially with a cami/T-shirt underneath. The lacey lines are a little too lacey to wear the sweater solo, so this one is definitely NM winter wear. I'm glad I kept knitting & knitting on those interminable sleeves - now they're really long enough! LOL The negative ease won't last long - the more I wear it, the more it will stretch out. But that's fine - a little looser is probably better anyway. :)
The yarn is great - I can't say enough good things about it's softness and the color variations - even in the "solids." I don't really have any pullovers to wears, so this has whetted my appetite for more! In fact, I cast on for a little something last night, details to follow. ::wink::
In crochet news, I went down to Michael's, fully intending to buy the yarn I would need for that cutaway crocheted jacket I showed you from the Crochet! magazine. But something stopped me from plunking down the $65.00 odd dollars for the LB Suede. I'm going to look through my stash instead & see if I can't find something else that would work. I do have oodles of purple LB Kool Wool, and I'm debating whether or not to use it. Hmmmmm.....
Dylan wants to say "Thanks!" for all the B-day wishes yesterday. :) Margaret asked what a 14 yr. old boy gets for his B-day. Well - last week he got a silver Razr phone (his brother got a phone too, although not a Razr. That was my response to the lockdown we had at school!) which he'd wanted for months. So yesterday he got accessories for his game systems and next weekend he'll get a 27" lava lamp from my Bio-Mom. He's been wanting a lava lamp for years & years - a 27" one will knock his socks off!
I'm subbing in the same math class today that I had on Friday, so I know I'll have no prep time today and thus no knitting time either! Maybe a few rows on my lunch half hour....
Speaking of work, one of the auto-subs has given his notice. This will be his last week. From then on it will be just one other lady and myself.
There went any hope I ever had of having a day off. Sigh.
Have a great Monday!
lovely FO Bron. It looks great on you, that colour suits you very well. Long live purple preferring people!

Woo! It looks great! More purple, more purple! :)
[still trying to figure out if I have any yarn in stash appropriate for Licorice Whip! I wonder how it would be in a wool... ]

You're so grape-y!! So cute. As usual, your FO turned out just right. I wear a tank top under mine, but definitely can't go "solo"!!

Great sweater! I have always loved purple, but now I'm wondering why I don't have more of it in my stash. I must fix that!
I feel bad that I never thought of how you must of felt when you were separated from the boys during the lockdown. How awful for you! You do work at their school, don't you?

That looks lovely on!
LB Suede-I swear it grows as you use it. I still suggest a cotton chenille-look on ebay for cones of it-I know you like the "good stuff", but it can't hurt to peek.

Pretty! I love the purple. By the way, it is employee appreciation week, so I can get the LB suede for you at half off.

Wow, it really looks great. Sounds like you like how it turned out as well. Happy birthday to Dylan too!

Grape-a-licious! It looks wonderful on you.

Thanks, everyone! Purple is definitely posh in my book!
Deneen - I like the best stuff I can get for the cheapest price. ;) hehe But yeah, I know what you mean. I've taken Wendy up on her offer - paying around $40 for the yarn is much better on my wallet AND my conscience. ::Grin::
Linda - Yeah, we were at the same school. And...on that day of all days I'd left MY cell at home! I couldn't even call Doug to let him know we were ok. Even though it's "forbidden" to use cells because of misinformation coming both ways, I still bought the phones for the kids. I figure they can sue me for using a phone if it happens again. ::wink::
Awww...thanks for the "skinny" comment Karyn! I'm once again stalled on the weight loss front so that was nice to hear. :)
