Thanks so much for all the congratulations! We're still on cloud 9. The contract was signed yesterday and the people want to close by April 25th. Less than a month - we like that! I'll post the mystical house-selling tips tomorrow - it can't be too weird if it worked, right? ::wink::
The good news just kept coming yesterday. I finally sat down to finish our taxes and 1. we didn't owe as much as I thought we did for Federal and 2. we're getting enough back from State to cover the Fed taxes & give us a few hundred left over. Seriously - we thought we owed (quite literally) thousands so this is the best news ever, right behind the house selling! Plus, of course, we'll be getting that "tax rebate" from Bush...which will go right into savings, thank you very much!
Good news on a smaller scale - I picked up the latest Interweave Crochet. I really like this issue and there are a few things I'd like to make. "Arachne's Tears" is a great little scarf that would work well for a tie belt. The semi-precious beads are sewn on after it's crocheted:
I really like this stole - I'm almost positive I'd never wear it, but I'd like to have it!:
I like this top, although the model really looks pudgy in this picture:
I think in a finer yarn it might work.
There are a couple of other possibilities - I queued the Ripple Lace V-Neck Top on Ravelry - just in case. ::wink::
Instead of working on Talia, I started this shrug:
from Positively Crochet. I'm using Cotton Ease from stash in charcoal. Here's my progress:
It's a T shape (I'm working on the body/back right now) and sewn together on the sides. It's pretty mindless crochet, the only problem I foresee is that it's so loosely crocheted (I'm using a K hook) I'm going to have a hard time weaving in ends so that they stay put. This might be one of those rare times I just knot the yarn & cut it close!
Happy Monday to all...here's hoping my good mood survives a week back at school! hehe
