Unlike knitting & crochet, you don't have to actually make the fabric you're sewing together! So this little baby just took me about 2 hours, start to finish:
But, just like knit/crochet patterns, there are a couple of tweaks I should have done. For the next tank, I'll lower the bust darts to they are actually across my bust line rather than about 3 inches above it! And I'll make the armholes an inch larger too. But this is still wearable - very 60S retro for spring.
I don't know if anyone remembers, but this is the material I purchased for a skirt last fall. I made the skirt, it didn't fit, then bought another yard of the fabric to fix it. I never did - fix it that is - and the material's been sitting ever since. I decided I'd get more use from a top, so there you are. ::grin:::
For my next project, though, I'll be using this pattern:
Particularly this version:
I think the fit will be a bit better than the plain tank and I've always liked a crossover style.
Speaking of crossover style, guess what else I'll be working on today?
The pattern is ready - I just need to piece & sew. :)
I cleaned out my tub of fabric in preparation for both moving and apron sewing. ::Grin::: This used to be full to the top:
I have lots of material that is going away:
And I found some great apron fabric:
The fabric 2nd from the left is from my Mom's stash. It's vintage 70S and there's plenty of it. I'll definitely make an apron from it - it'll be a nice remembrance. :)
I found these two fabrics that must be made into an apron, asap!:

The border print will go along the bottom and I'll fussy-cut a pocket from it, as well as using it for the ties.
"But Bron! Aren't you knitting any more??? And what about your kitchen craze???"
Gosh, I'm glad you asked. Yep - I knit another 3" on the back of my tank. 3 more inches of stockinette that doesn't deserve a picture. I'm also continuing with my dishrag craze - I just need to decide on a pattern!
Today I'm taking the dog in for her shots (oh, joy!) then tomorrow Doug will finally be finished with the night shift. (He's been doing is for the first time as a special favor to management to get ready for inventory.) We'll be going to the Albuquerque Aquarium (I'll take pics) and then in the afternoon Doug & kids will make their annual foray to the Rio Rancho Pork & Brew.
I know, I know - life can't get much more exciting! LOL

Cute tank! There are moments I wish I could sew, I really do.

Great fabrics! Love that one with the clocks! I agree all of that will make great aprons.
No need to apologize. Sometimes we all need a little break from knitting and/or crocheting and sewing is perfect, and oh so much faster to see the results. Lovely top too!
We've got Snow & Windy here today; it's supposed to continue for the next couple of days. Current temperature is 25 degrees. Just thought you'd like to know. *wink*
Have a great day everyone!

I can't believe it. You've actually inspired me to sew something for myself, which I haven't done since maternity clothes 22 years ago. Such cute patterns! I'm stopping at the fabric store on my way home tonight!

The tank looks great! I love the watermelon/seed packet print; that really will make a great apron.

Deneen, if we lived closer together, I'd have you knitting & sewing in a heartbeat. Whether you wanted to or not! hehehe
Thanks, Erica! You are my sewing goddess!!!!
Margaret - it was 28 here when I got up yesterday AM. You need to keep that cold air to yourself! LOL
Vicki - How cool! I must say that sewing makes a nice break from the other fibery arts. :)

Thanks, Arachne. :) I might have to move that apron to the top of my "to-sew" list.
