Batten Down The Hatches

And sharpen up those needles & hooks - the Knitting & Crocheting Olympics are about to begin.

Ya'll have fun now, ya hear?

Watcher

Speaking of knitting & crocheting, some of that's been going on around here too:

This is about 12" of my "Slouchy Vest" - another 4" & I'll start the armholes. This has become my TV knitting after than completion of "Wrap Sweater."

Here's my re-do of "Romantic Cardi":

000_3130

It's so much bigger & better than first, taupe incarnation. I'm thinking I'll be pleased with how this turns out. I'm about 2" away from folding it & starting the sleeves.

"Somewhat Cowl" has me in a quandary. I've slowed down quite a bit on the knitting, perhaps because I know I'm knitting it on faith & I know it won't fit now, only when I'm 20 pounds less than now. (Well - it probably would fit now but it'd be a stretch - both physically & mentally!) Hmmmm...I have so many other things I'd like to do, I'm really leaning toward consciously making it a UFO so I can start a couple of other projects that I could wear this spring.

See - that Cherry "Shine" from Knitpicks is staring me in the face, as well as a couple of Rebecca patterns that I could make for spring & summer....for which I have yarn in my stash. Then there's the white, cables & lace cardi ....the hot pink cabled short-sleeved number....the lacey, garter kerchief piece....the garter-stitch vest that I'd like to make for my "Year of the Vest".....

(I think I just talked myself into putting "Somewhat Cowl" on the shelf - what do you think? hehe)

I'll go over the patterns I really like in Rebecca #40 next time. But until then, let me leave you with a bit more booty. My trade with Emma came in:

In exchange for goodies from Knitpicks she sent me these three skeins of chunky Portland wool in the "Nectarine" colorway from Curious Yarns. How lovely is that? I'm planning a cabled scarf and (I hope) matching hat. They'll be of my own design - another free pattern, wow! The scarf will be in the tradition of the Irish Hiking Scarf, but ...you know....different! ha! I really love the colors - they managed to nail the grapefruity pinky yellow I was rhapsodizing about. :) Thanks so much, Emma! A very satisfying trade all around. :::Grin:::

Today I'm off to the Honor Roll assembly at school. Both boys got on honor roll for the first semester - I couldn't go to Colin's assembly yesterday 'cause I was working, but I'm definitely showing up for Dylan's today. :::Grin::: You see, Dylan didn't think he'd made honor roll 'cause he didn't get an official invitation. Mom to the rescue: I knew he had a high enough GPA so I checked with the office yesterday. Turns out he was on the list, just over-looked for the invite. The Vice-Principal apologized all over the place for leaving Dylan out, but that's ok - we're just happy he's going! All the people who made it get cool, turquoise T-shirts. (I'm telling you, the color turquoise is haunting me! hehe)

Have a great weekend - whether you're into the Olympics or not!

I LOVE that Nectarine yarn! Very cool...

Happy Friday Bron! That Somewhat Cowl sweater is really nice, but we can wait! ;-)

You're just so much fun to keep up with, uh, virtually. I make one tink-worthy while you make 10 that you can actually wear. But, oh boy, am I learning!

The yarn is beautiful, wonderful color combinations.

Congrats on the boys grades. I'll bet it helps to have a teacher for a mom.

Today is Son#2's 16th birthday. I'll have about 20 15-17yos here by 530pm, slavering for pizza! :-)

Have a Great Day!

You're just in color heaven these days, lady! I love the color of the slouchy vest, and that nectarine wool is just gorgeous.

Congrats on the boys honor roll, too - both to them and to you.

Hmm...now that I've started leaving comments on blogs again, perhaps it wouldn't be too much of a stretch for me to actually post something again... we'll see.

I love the color of the vest.

I'm ready for the Olympics. I even took the afternoon off work for this because I'm crazy.

congratulations to the boys! you must be so proud.

Thanks, Chris! I'm always excited seeing yarn in person after I've seen it online. :)

Cec - Thanks for backing me up regarding "Somewhat Cowl." :::grin::: The fact that I'm not feeling guilty putting it down means that I really wasn't meant to knit it right now. ;)

Happy B-day to Son #2! Hope you all had lots of fun. :)

Shannon - Say it's so! Blog entries from you would be SO nice. :) Thanks for the congrats - I'll pass them along. I need to get a pic of the kids in their honor roll T-shirts. It may be a geeky Mom thing to do, but hell - I AM a geeky Mom! hehehe

Go, Vera! Go, Vera! See - I'll be part of your official cheering section. :::Grin:::

Thanks, Maryse, I am. :)
