And other tales from a knitter's life....
I'm soooooo close on Gigi. Another couple of days & I'll be done! I didn't realize just how close until I got the pieces connected. Woohoo!
I'm continuing to work on my crocheted bolero:
I realized that I misread the directions and crocheted the sleeves in the round instead of flat. It makes absolutely no difference that I can tell so I'm happy - no sleeve seams to sew! I went ahead & made it about 5" longer than the pattern specified - it'll be much more comfortable for me to wear. :)
After work yesterday, I came home & made fudge & spiced pecans. Here's a bit all ready for giving:
I need to post both recipes because the fudge is the simplest thing ever and the spiced pecans are to-die-for.
I also delved deep into my closet...under all the boxes & packing stuff (I've got to organize that closet!!):
...to get into my box full of candle-making supplies...
...to get the beeswax & lip balm tubes to make these:
Beeswax, almond oil & Tea Tree oil. Nothing heals chapped, cracked lips better. :) I used up the last of my almond oil to make 16 - half are going out as presents, half stay here for the family!
Looking at all my molds I realized that I've really missed making candles. I think I'll have to put that on my list of things to do for January. I still have bunches of wax & coloring & plenty of ideas. :)
I don't work today, which is just as well. The antibiotics Colin's been on haven't been strong enough to kill the ear infection. His ear still aches off & on so I need to take him to his regular pediatrician in the city this afternoon. Poor thing - I hope we get this kicked once & for all this week!
Tomorrow I sub for Dylan's gifted teacher - that's always fun. Then it's back to elementary on Thursday to sub for various teachers who have IEP meetings for 1 1/2 hours at a time. Usually I'm in 3 different classrooms over the course of the day - keeps things interesting!
The Winter Knitty is up and there are several "maybes." I like Tempting II and Festive, but what really caught my eye is Tubey (without the stripes for me) and Bristow. Cheesy Puffs is a definite possibility for Doug, although I'll change the color to a nice blue. :) Marley's hilarious!
