It's 6 degrees out there this morning.
Canadians...please take back your arctic air, ok? We get it. You're much tougher than we are & we admire the heck out of you! Brrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!
Gigi? Oui, oui! She is almost done. In fact, I stopped last night in mid neckline bind-off. I just need to crochet a tie & sew up my sleeve seams this afternoon. I promise a pic for tomorrow's entry. :) (For better or worse!)
Gigi will be my 25th sweater completed this year. But just to feed my own ego a bit more, I'm going to try & finish at least two more by Jan. 1st. The crocheted bolero will definitely be done, but I'm not sure what what #27 will be. Probably something sleeveless, so I can cheat a little. :::wink::: Maybe this one:
I really like the texture & the cable up the front. I'm thinking some Mint CE might be perfect for it. :::grin::: Or, I could do the cable shell to this duo next:
These pics are all from the Better Homes & Gardens book, "Knitted Sweaters for Her" which is a preprint of sweater patterns they've featured in their "Easy Knitting" series. I've seen most of these before, but paid 4 bucks at a half-price sale just to have them all in one place. :)
I've had this sweater in mind for a year or two:
It reminds me strongly of a gold, cabled sweater my Mom made for my Dad years ago. In fact, I threw it out along with many others when we cleaned out the homeplace. I don't know if I'll make it in gold, but I really would like to make it. It's also a lot like Uxbridge Cardi and I've worn the heck out of that sweater this season.
Speaking of wearing the heck out of Uxbridge, I'm going to add a new feature to the end of the year round-up on my blog. See all those completed projects on my sidebar? Most of them I've knit/crocheted, then modeled and then...you've never heard of them again. I, for one, would be interested to hear how projects have held up over time. Did the yarn pill? Did the style turn out to be "not-you?" Did it shrink into un-wearability in the washer? Did you visit a recipient's house only to find that cabled masterpiece lining the dog's bed???
I'm here to tell you, there are several of mine that turned out to be complete duds...for one reason or another. So some time in the next couple of weeks I'll air my dirty knitting & give you the lowdown on what worked & what didn't....and what lessons I learned in the process.
Sounds like fun, eh? hehe
