During a gloomy day in paradise:
Hmmmm...dark & lowering skies...I love it! It poured all night complete with thunder & lightning. The arroyos are all flooded & the air smells like pine. It also rained most of today - I've been in 7th heaven!
Here's Spray Shell:
Here's a catty-corner pic just for the heck of it:
(Yep - it depends on which part of the country you're from as to whether you say "kitty" or "catty" corner. :::Grin:::)
Close-up of the crocheted crab stitch neckline:
And yet another shot of the non-pooling colors:
- Pattern - I made it up. I did 2X2 ribbing for an inch, then stockinette for the body, started decreasing for the waist after 4", increased back up after 3". It's 14" to the armhole, then 8" for the armhole itself. The neckline I winged - I bound off 4 stitches in the middle about 2" into the armhole, then a stitch on either side 7 times up the the shoulders. I figured I try a V-neck for a change. :)
- Yarn - Katia Spray in "Neutral Melange" from Elann - I used just a tad over 7 balls.
- Needles - 11's.
- This was fast & I like how it turned out. I should be able to get lots of use out of it. That being said, I'm swearing off thick, bulky, and or ribbon-type yarn for awhile (except for my Zen shrug!) It's terribly difficult to make anything other than "big & bulky" with big & bulky yarn, no matter how tightly you stretch it. ;) I'm sticking to dk & worsted weight for awhile.
Speaking of which: I know after I finished crocheting "On The Side Cardigan" I swore I'd never use Lavold's Cotton Patine again (too splitty)...unless there was a really good sale. Well...um...guess what? There was a really good sale:
I can't get the color to come out just right - the closet to true are the bottom two balls. It's 10 balls of "Driftwood" which I thought it was a medium beigey color. But when I see it in person it's really a lovely, deep taupe. I'm very pleased!
Especially since it was only $1.50/ball.
It would take a stronger knitter than I to pass that one up.
eBay is a wonderful, wonderful place...hehehehe
